Privacy Policy

Overview

Captain Claw is an open-source AI agent that you install and run on your own hardware. Your sessions, memory, documents, and configuration live on the machine where you run it — not on servers operated by us. This Privacy Policy describes how the captain-claw.com website handles information, and clarifies how the Captain Claw software itself handles your data when you use it.

Information the website collects

The captain-claw.com marketing website and documentation use Google Analytics (gtag.js, measurement ID G-6N1C6M469D) to understand aggregate traffic patterns. This may include:

  • Pages viewed and time spent
  • Referring URL and approximate geographic region
  • Browser, operating system, and device type
  • Anonymized IP address

We do not ask you to create an account to browse the website or read the documentation, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or payment information through the website.

The Captain Claw software

Captain Claw runs locally. When you install and use it:

  • Your data stays with you. Sessions, memory, playbooks, and documents are stored in ~/.captain-claw (or your configured data directory) on your own machine.
  • LLM providers. Prompts and context you send through Captain Claw are transmitted to whichever LLM provider you configure (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Ollama, etc.). Those providers have their own privacy policies and data handling practices, which apply to that data.
  • Integrations you enable. If you connect Captain Claw to Google Workspace, Telegram, Slack, Discord, X, or any other third-party service, data flows directly between your instance and that service under the credentials you provide.
  • No telemetry to us. The Captain Claw software does not send your usage data, prompts, memory contents, or configuration back to captain-claw.com or to any service we operate.

Demo environments

Hosted demo environments (such as demo.captain-claw.com and computer.captain-claw.com) are provided for evaluation purposes only. Do not enter personal, confidential, or production data into these demos. Activity in these environments may be logged for operational and abuse-prevention purposes and may be reset or wiped at any time without notice.

Cookies

The website uses cookies set by Google Analytics to distinguish visitors. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or by using a browser extension without affecting your ability to read the site.

Your choices

Because we do not operate accounts or store personal data about website visitors beyond aggregated analytics, there is typically no user record for us to access, export, or delete. If you believe we hold personal information about you and would like it removed, contact the maintainer through the GitHub repository linked in the footer.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the project evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
